SIMMAV - IT SERVICE Digital technology at the service of students

What is SIMMAV?


SIMMAV stands for Service Informatique MultiMédia et AudioVisuel. It is a shared service for students, providing 28 specialised rooms for:

  • Courses using IT tools.
  • Classes in language labs or multimedia rooms.
  • A self-service room with Wifi internet access.

Other specialised computer rooms are also available in the departments. All SIMMAV computers run under Windows, and configurations are automatically reinstalled on a regular basis. A workstation for burning, scanning and reading different card formats, as well as a laser printer for scanning and reading different card formats, and a colour laser printer are available at the open access reception desk. The machines are equipped with flat screens.
At the beginning of the year, each student is given an account on the IUT network. The identifiers needed to use it are the login (shown on the student card) and a password set with the student's date of birth (it must be changed afterwards).

  • the Digital Working Environment (My UJM)
  • 500 MB of storage space
  • Printing units

How open access works

  • A dedicated computer room is available for students to carry out their coursework.
  • 40 workstations available every day from 8am to 6.30pm.
  • 1 colour copier.

Language laboratory


SIMMAV also has language labs and multimedia computer rooms in which students will be able to improve their foreign language skills: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, slav languages.
