The IUT library is developing a collection of books and journals, both theoretical and technical, covering all the fields taught.
Together with the Jean Monnet University libraries, IUT users have access to a wide range of digital resources available online: books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, research articles, company directories, etc. All library documentation can be found on BRISE ES.
The BRISE.ES network facilitates access to all the libraries of Saint-Étienne's higher education institutions.

Work areas available.
Different work areas allow everyone to study and work in groups in the environment that suits them best.
The Quiet Room: individual work in peace and quiet.
The Workshop: a collaborative workspace equipped with screens, video projectors and whiteboards.
The 4 Labs: group work rooms equipped with screens and whiteboards, bookable in advance.

Training in documentary research

The student training programme includes sessions with the library team to develop information skills:

Identifying information needs (teacher's instructions, subject to be covered).
Accessing the necessary information (search engines).
Evaluate information critically.
Communicating results (citing sources).

The aim is to enable you to confront the demands of the academic and professional world in terms of information management.

Information Thursdays

The library offers all IUT students workshops on documentary research in the form of short themed capsules. Here are a few examples:

Optimising browser settings for university use.
The bibliography to enhance your documentary research.
Media: understanding the issues surrounding information.
Europresse: access all the main press titles.
Engineering technical: high-quality scientific and technical information.

These courses take place every Thursday from 1pm to 2pm in groups of no more than 10 students, subject to registration. Information and programme can be found at the library reception desk or on our news page.

The benefits of the library

The library offers you personalised support in your search for information, on your own or in a SAé group (group projects), by appointment.
You can borrow computers, headphones, cables and DVD players to work on site.
A 'relaxation' collection in the IUT library offers comic books, novels and documentaries.
There is also a lounge area, cultural and scientific exhibitions and a leisure collection (novels and comics).
