Course topics
Courses and labs emphasize basic principles in animal and plant biology including scientific inquiry, histology, ecology, evolution, and diversity in animal and plant anatomy and physiology. This course will explore how animals (Sponges, Cnidarians, Annelids, Mollusks, Arthropods, Vertebrates) evolved, how they function (cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, renal functions), and how they interact with their environment. It will explore the common structural and anatomical features of lichens, mosses, ferns, conifers, Angiosperms, fungi and the differences among them.
Skills
Dissecting, producing and interpreting cross-sections, using magnifying glasses and microscopes and producing scientific drawings and diagrams.
