Learning objectives

  • Writing confidently and effectively in English,
  • Writing with greater ease following a process approach,
  • Organizing business writing for greater impact,
  • Writing the most frequent types of business English documents: emails, notes, minutes, short reports,
  • Tailoring one’s writing to the specific needs of the readers,
  • Using an appropriate style and tone (formal and informal),
  • Editing and checking writing to be more accurate and effective,
  • Developing an extensive range of useful vocabulary and phrases used in business English.

Course topics

  • Emails: introductions, requests, enquiries, invitations, complaints, negotiations in writing,
    arrangements,
  • Preparing notes and meetings minutes,
  • Report writing,
  • Getting the tone right.

    Additional speaking and listening activities complete each lesson.

Teaching method

Group of up to 30 students: weekly 2-hour sessions

Assessment

  • Intermediate assessment (oral presentation of a 6-minute English BBC recording)
  • Final written exam (based on a real-life business communication situation)

Entry requirements

At least B1 level in English
